Head Coach
McPherson College
6 Seasons at JCCC • (61-41-7)
Jeff Cole enters his seventh season as the head men’s soccer coach at Johnson County Community College, serving as the sixth head coach in program history. Over his first six seasons, Cole has guided the Cavaliers to sustained success on the field while building a strong culture of academic achievement.
During Cole’s tenure, Johnson County has a 61-41-7 record, a Region 6 championship, two conference championships and have been ranked nationally at the end of the season the last four years. He has produced one NJCAA and United Soccer Coaches All-American, 29 All‑Region 6 selections, and 40 All‑Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) honorees, including two Defensive Players of the Year. Academically, 29 Cavaliers have earned NJCAA All‑Academic honors, including one United Soccer Coaches Scholar Athlete of the Year, four USC Men’s Scholar All-Americans, one CSC Academic All‑America® At‑Large selection, and four CSC Academic All‑District® At‑Large honorees.
Even more impressive, Cole has helped 45 of his players at JCCC earn scholarships at four-year schools, 11 at the NCAA Division level.
Cole was hired just prior to the start of the COVID‑19‑impacted 2020–21 season and was unable to recruit in his first year, resulting in a 2‑10‑0 record. Despite the challenges, five players earned All‑KJCCC East Division honors, highlighted by Defensive Player of the Year Kyle Reese, and three earned NJCAA All‑Academic distinction.
In his second season, Cole led the Cavaliers to a 7-10-0 mark with five all conference selections before orchestrating - remarkable turnaround in 2022. Picked to finish last in the preseason, Johnson County won the conference championship and advanced to the District Championship Game, where they fell in overtime. The Cavaliers finished 14-7-0 overall, 5-4-0 against ranked teams and were ranked 13th in the country in the final NJCAA poll. Cole was named Coach of the Year, while goalkeeper Cole Stewart earned Defensive Player of the Year honors. Forward Alan Lopez delivered one of the finest seasons in program history, earning NJCAA and United Soccer Coaches All-America honors, USC Scholar Player of the Year, and CSC Academic All-America® recognition — all program firsts.
The Cavaliers continued their success in 2023, finishing 11‑5‑3, repeating as conference champions, and ending the season ranked No. 15 nationally. Nine players earned all‑conference honors, and Jacksyn McIntyre was named a United Soccer Coaches Men’s Scholar All‑American, and he along with Homer Skidmore were selected Academic All-District® College Division At-Large by College Sports Communicators.
In 2024, Johnson County opened the year ranked No. 13 and finished 14‑4‑0, finishing runner‑up in the conference and Region 6 Tournament, with all four losses coming against nationally ranked opponents, one to No. 1 Iowa Lakes and three to Neosho County, the eventual National Runner-up. The Cavaliers finished No. 8 in the final NJCAA poll, with seven All‑KJCCC and All‑Region selections and two, Monty Almaliky and Dominic Zuniga, were United Soccer Coaches All‑West Region honorees. Off the pitch, Carson Schmitt was selected as a United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-American.
The 2025 season marked one of the most successful campaigns in program history. JCCC finished 13‑5‑4, captured the Region VI Division II Championship — the program’s first since 2005 — and finished as Plains District runners‑up and No. 15 nationally. Kael Drummond emerged as a national standout. He was selected to the United Soccer Coaches Two‑Year Division II All‑America Team, becoming just the sixth player in program history to earn USC All‑America honors. Drummond also added United Soccer Coaches Scholar All‑America recognition, further highlighting his exceptional performance on the field and in the classroom. In addition, he earned first‑team All‑Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division II and All‑Region 6 honors for his play during the 2025 season. Drummond was joined on the All‑Conference and All‑Region teams by teammates Michael Bernebe, Peyton McCawley, Conor Meyers, Ben Points, Khoi Woods, and Daniel Wozniak, underscoring the Cavaliers’ depth and balance throughout the year. Cole was named KJCCC Division II Coach of the Year for the second time.
Cole joined JCCC after seven seasons with the University of Missouri–Kansas City women’s soccer program, including serving as interim head coach in 2019. The Roos compiled an 88‑46‑15 record during his tenure and captured three Western Athletic Conference championships. Cole was a four‑time WAC Coaching Staff of the Year honoree and played a major role in developing some of the top goalkeepers in program history, overseeing 63 shutouts and multiple school records.
Before UMKC, Cole spent two seasons as an assistant at Hutchinson Community College, helping the Blue Dragons to back‑to‑back KJCCC championships, a Region 6 title, and a combined 37‑2‑1 record. He has also served with River City Soccer Club, U.S. Youth Soccer Region II, Kansas ODP, and KC Select Soccer Club.
Cole was a four‑year starter at McPherson College, earning second‑team All‑KCAC honors as a senior. He holds a USSF National “A” License, National Goalkeepers License, National “B” License, NSCAA Advanced National License, National License, and State Diploma.
Jeff Cole and his wife, Stacy, reside in Olathe, Kansas.
