Golden Girls Dominate Region 6, Extend Title Streak to 11

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Johnson County Community College dance team delivered another dominant performance at the Region 6 Dance and Cheer Championships, held Sunday, March 15, at Newton High School, capturing its 11th consecutive regional title.

Competing in Team Performance, Jazz, Pom, and Hip-Hop, along with individual solo divisions, the Golden Girls were the only program to enter all four team categories. They earned first-place finishes in both Jazz and Pom, while also taking second in Team Performance and Hip-Hop.

Their Pom routine, choreographed by Dominic Franco, stood out as the top performance of the competition, earning Grand Champion honors as the highest-scoring routine overall.

Johnson County also showcased a strong group of freshman soloists, claiming five of the top seven placements among 17 competitors. Emma Krehbiel led the way with a first-place finish, followed by Myka Beck in third, Kylee Vignery in fourth, Halle Bruss in sixth, and Kylah Carter in seventh.

The Golden Girls now turn their focus to the NDA Collegiate National Championship, set for April 7–12 in Daytona Beach.
