Ziegenbein headed to Missouri State
Johnson County Community College pitcher Trey Ziegenbein had been penciled in by head coach Kent Shelley to be the ace of the staff for the 2020 season, but the 6-3 right-hander from Blue Springs, Mo., recently signed a national letter-of-intent to play at Missouri State University in 2019-20
JCCC’s Amicangelo named NJCAA All-American
Johnson County Community College sophomore outfielder Anthony Amicangelo was named first-team All-American by the National Athletic Association (NJCAA) earlier this week. He is the 15th player in team history be selected All-American, and just the fourth to earn first-team honors.
Former JCCC pitcher Davis Schwab picked by Atlanta Braves in 37th round of MLB Draft
Davis Schwab became the 33rd former Johnson County Community College baseball player to be selected in the MLB Draft on Wednesday, June 5. Schwab, a senior left-handed pitcher at Missouri State University, was selected by the Atlanta Braves in the 37th round with the 1,117th pick overall.
JCCC baseball team dominates all-conference selections
Johnson County Community College led all schools with 11 players named to the All-Kansas Jayhawk Conference East Division first, second and honorable mention teams. The all-conference honors are voted on by the league’s head coaches
Cavaliers eliminated from postseason play
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – With an 8-3 loss to Barton Community College in the consolation bracket of the Central District Tournament, the 13-ranked Johnson County Community College baseball team saw its once promising 2019 season come to an end over the weekend. The Cavaliers finished the season 46-12.
