WICHITA, Kan. - Johnson County's historic run showed no signs of slowing Thursday afternoon at Eck Stadium.
Behind timely hitting and another steady outing on the mound, the Cavaliers rolled past Seward County, 11-3, in the Region 6 Tournament to extend their winning streak to 41 games and improve to 57-2 on the season.
JCCC seized control early and never let go, breaking open a tight game with a six-run fourth inning before adding four more in the fifth to pull away from the Saints.
The Cavaliers did their damage with efficiency, scoring 11 runs on just six hits while drawing eight walks and constantly applying pressure on Seward County pitching.
Brayden Giesler delivered one of the biggest swings of the day, finishing with three RBIs, while Logan Groh added a pair of runs driven in to pace the offense. Briggs Roe, Isaac Pamaran and Ashton Hartwig each contributed RBI as well in a balanced attack that saw multiple players reach base and come around to score.
JCCC's lineup also showed patience throughout, drawing eight walks—including two apiece from Ryan Bradford and Colin Coonradt—to keep innings alive and wear down Seward County's staff.
On the mound, Liam Roche continued his dominant season, improving to 14-0 after allowing three runs over 4.2 innings while striking out four. He worked through early traffic before settling in and handing the ball off with the Cavaliers in control.
Keston Holman slammed the door out of the bullpen, tossing 2.1 scoreless innings and not allowing a hit while striking out two to secure the win.
Seward County briefly made things interesting with a two-run third inning, getting RBI from Isai Santaella, Juan Alvarez and Grant Cox, but could not keep pace once JCCC's offense found its rhythm.
The Cavaliers' decisive fourth inning proved to be the turning point. After pushing across a run in the third to get on the board, JCCC erupted for six runs in the next frame, capitalizing on walks and timely hits to flip the game firmly in its favor.
From there, Johnson County continued to pile on, adding four more runs in the fifth inning to stretch the lead to 11-3 and put the game out of reach.
With the victory, JCCC pushes its remarkable winning streak to 41 consecutive games, a run defined by depth, consistency and an ability to win in a variety of ways—whether through explosive innings like Thursday's or strong pitching performances late.
The Cavaliers now turn their attention to their next test in the Region 6 Tournament, where they will face Cowley on Thursday night at 7 p.m. in Wichita.
With momentum firmly on their side and a championship within reach, Johnson County continues to write one of the most impressive seasons in program history.
