OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - The No. 2-ranked Johnson County Community College women's soccer team raced out to a 5-0 first half lead and cruised to a 6-0 victory at Metropolitan Community College Tuesday night, improving to 2-0-0 on the season.
Sophomore forward Jill Lenherr paced the Cavaliers' attack, scoring the fourth and sixth goals while also assisting on sophomore Brecken Hoy's tally in the 32nd minute.
Freshman forward Darby Howard, the reigning KJCCC Division II Player of the Week, opened the scoring just two minutes in off an assist from Hoy.
Sophomore Tatum Bresette doubled the lead in the 14th minute, finishing a setup from Iliana Garcia.
Freshman Jade Smallwood contributed a goal and an assist, while classmate Madison Smith added two assists to round out the Cavaliers' balanced offensive effort.
In goal, sophomore Avery Young earned her second win of the year, making four saves in 51 minutes of action. Sophomore Lena-Marie Winkler closed out the final 39 minutes to secure the shutout.
The Cavaliers continue their early-season road swing in Pensacola, Florida, taking on No. 20 Pensacola State College on Friday, Sept. 5, before capping the trip against Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College on Sunday, Sept. 7.
