OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The No. 2-ranked Johnson County Community College women's soccer team continued its unbeaten run with a 2-0 victory over cross-town rival and No. 10 Kansas City Kansas Community College Saturday evening at the JCCC Soccer Complex.
With the win, the Cavaliers improved to 11-0-0 overall and 5-0-0 in conference play.
Sophomore midfielder Tatum Bresette opened the scoring in the 18th minute, finishing a perfect feed from sophomore forward Lily Marshall. Just five minutes later, Marshall struck again, this time assisted by sophomore forward Samantha Pond, to put JCCC ahead 2-0.
The Cavaliers dominated possession and offensive chances, outshooting the Blue Devils 29-1, including an 18-1 advantage in shots on goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Avery Young made the lone save she faced to secure her fourth solo shutout of the season. Young improved to 10-0-0 on the year while lowering her national-best goals against average to 0.12.
JCCC will face another ranked opponent on Wednesday, Oct. 1, when it travels to No. 5 St. Charles Community College (11-0-1).
