Eleven JCCC softball players earn all-conference recognition

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference announced its 2025 regular season honors for Division II softball and 11 different Johnson County players were recognized. The 11 players selected are the most since 2002.

First-team honors went to sophomore infielders Aspen Burgardt and Izzy Carter, freshman outfielder Katie Kolarik, freshman catcher Maddie Murray and sophomore pitcher Jalin Lavers.  Sophomore infielder Jaylee Jefferson, sophomore outfielder Haley Bryant and freshman pitcher Elsa Carrillo were second-team selections, and sophomore pitcher Brielle Dee, freshman DP Lily Hans and freshman infielder Reagan Neitzel earned honorable mention honors.

Burgardt, who was the conference MVP and NJCAA D-II National Player of the Year last season, is batting .440 (48-for-109) with a team-high 20 doubles, two triples, seven home runs, 40 runs and 42 RBI. Her 20 doubles also rank fourth in the conference and her 29 extra base hits tie for fourth. Burgardt has collected multiple-hits in 13 games, and drive in two or more runs 11 times, highlighted by a program record tying eight RBI in a win against Mineral Area on February 15.  That effort earned the KJCCC D-II Player of the Week honor. For her career, Burgardt has set new program records for doubles (53) and RBI (126) and her 30 home runs rank second all-time.

Carter is batting .422 (62-for-147) with 11 doubles, three triples, two home runs, 4 runs scored and 28 RBI. She ranks second on the team with 16 multiple-hit games, including five three-hit games. She also has seven multiple-RBI games. Carter ranks tied for fourth in the conference in hits and tied for sixth in runs scored.

Kolarik is hitting at a .417 clip (50-for- 120) with 16 doubles, 10 home runs, 38 runs and 44 RBI. She ranks second on the team and eighth in the conference in doubles and her 10 homers tie for second -most on the team and for 10th in the conference. Kolarik has produced 12 multiple-hit games and leads the team with 14 multiple-RBI games. In the fourth week this season, Kolarik was voted the KJCCC D-II Softball Player of the Week.

Murray is the team's second leading hitter with an average of .447 (55-for-123) with 14 doubles, a team-high 15 home runs, 35 runs and a team-high 55 RBI.  She is tied for fifth in the conference for both home runs and RBI, tied for fourth in extra base hits and seventh in batting average. Murray has 15 multiple-hit and 11 multiple-RBI games. Twice this season, Murray has been voted the KJCCC D-II Softball Player of the Week, earning the honor in weeks 13 and 14.

Lavers is JCCC's top pitcher in 2025 with a record of 14-5, 108 strikeouts in 112 and one-third innings with an ERA of 2.74. She has hurled 13 complete games and produced three shoutouts. Lavers ranks third in the conference in victories, fourth in innings pitched and fifth in ERA. In week 11, Lavers was voted the KJCCC D-II Pitcher of the Week. For her career, Lavers stands 25-6 with 168 strikeouts over 168 and two-third innings.

Jefferson is batting .428 (59-for-138) with 15 doubles, two triples, eight home runs, 45 runs and 45 RBI. She ranks sixth in the conference in hits, tied for ninth in doubles, and 12th in average and RBI. She leads the team with 18 multiple-hit games, including three four-hit games. She is second with 12 multi-RBI games. For her career, Jefferson has 126 hits, 36 doubles, 23 homers, 98 runs and 118 RBI.  She ranks tied for sixth all-time in doubles, fourth in home runs and third in RBI.

Bryant leads the team and ranks fourth in the conference with a batting average of .483 (42-for-87). She has eight doubles, two triples, 26 runs scored and 17 driven in. She has produced 13th multiple-hit and four multiple-RBI games.

Carrillo stands 7-5 in the circle this season with 70 strikeouts in 77 and one-third innings, with an ERA of 3.35. She also leads the staff with four shutouts. Earlier this season in week seven, Carrillo was selected the KJCCC D-II Pitcher of the Week.

Dee ranks second on the pitching staff in victories with a record of 9-5. She has 63 strikeouts in 95 and two-thirds innings pitched with an ERA of 3.66. She also has 10 complete games in the circle. Her nine wins ranked eighth in the conference.

Hans is batting .438 (39-for-89) with 17 doubles, four home runs, 22 runs scored and 31 driven in. She ranks seventh in the conference in doubles and 10th in batting average. Hans has produced 10 multiple-hit and seven multiple-RBI games.

Neitzel is hitting a .394 clip (54-for-137 (with 13 doubles, two triples, 10 home runs, 47 runs and 40 RBI. She ranks tied for sixth in the conference in runs, tied for 10th in home runs and tied for 12th in hits. Currently Neitzel has collected multiple-hit is 12 games, including one four-hit game, and has 10 multiple-RBI games.
