OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Johnson County Community College standout pitcher Jalin Lavers has been named to the NJCAA Division II Softball World Series All-Tournament Team, capping off a stellar sophomore season with a standout performance on the national stage.
Lavers played a pivotal role in leading the Cavaliers to a fifth-place finish in the 2024 World Series, starting all five games and showcasing her talent and endurance in the circle. The right-hander posted a 2-2 record, struck out 22 batters over 25 innings, and held opponents to a .239 batting average. Her strikeout total ranks fifth most in JCCC World Series history, and her 25 innings pitched rank sixth all-time for the program.
Highlights of Lavers' tournament included:
- A 1-0 complete-game shutout against Phoenix, where she allowed just one run and six hits.
- A 10-inning, 2-1 win over Iowa Central, where she struck out nine batters – tying the fourth-best single-game strikeout performance in JCCC World Series history.
Her season statistics were equally impressive. Lavers ended the year with:
- An 18-7 record,
- 16 complete games,
- 140 strikeouts in 152 innings pitched,
- A 3.04 ERA.
She led the team in every major pitching category and ranked among the top pitchers in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) — finishing 3rd in wins, 4th in total strikeouts and strikeouts per seven innings (6.45), and 8th in ERA.
