OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - Johnson County Community College continued its strong run with a doubleheader sweep of Labette Community College on Thursday in Parsons, rolling to a 13-4 win in the opener before holding on for a 7-6 victory in the second game.

In game one, the Cavaliers overcame an early three-run deficit with a dominant offensive display, highlighted by a 10-run fourth inning that broke the game open. Johnson County combined patience and power at the plate, drawing 13 walks and collecting 10 hits to overwhelm Labette.

Makenzie Yoder led the charge, going 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs scored and two RBI. Kennedy Glassford, the reigning KJCCC and NJCAA D-II Player of the Week, reached base four times, finishing 2-for-2 with two walks, three runs scored and two RBI.

Mariah Herrera delivered one of the biggest blows of the game, going 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI, while Reese Pattison added a double and drove in a run. Katie Kolarik chipped in two RBI, and Olivia Ellis scored twice and drove in a run.

In the circle, Kyleigh Whitehurst went the distance, allowing four runs (three earned) over five innings to earn the win.

The second game proved much tighter, with Johnson County fending off a late rally to secure a 7-6 victory and complete the sweep.

Glassford once again led the offense, going 3-for-4 with a double and three RBI. Katie Courter delivered a key performance, finishing 2-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and two RBI.

Pattison and Reagan Neitzel each recorded two hits, while Herrera added an RBI.

Johnson County built a 5-2 lead through four innings before Labette rallied to close the gap. The Cavaliers added two crucial insurance runs in the seventh inning, which proved to be the difference as Labette plated two in the bottom half.

Elsa Carrillo earned the win in the circle, tossing five innings and allowing four runs (two earned). Whitehurst picked up the save, working the final two innings to close out the victory.

For the day, Johnson County totaled 20 runs on 22 hits, showcasing both offensive firepower and resilience in completing the sweep.
