OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Elsa Carrillo delivered one of the most dominant performances of the season, tossing a no-hitter to lead Johnson County Community College to a 3-0 victory over Cloud County Community College in the second game of a doubleheader on March 28 in Overland Park.
Carrillo was in complete control from the first pitch, striking out six over seven innings while facing just 22 batters. She did not issue a walk, turning in an efficient and commanding outing to secure the shutout and complete the sweep for the Cavaliers.
Johnson County provided all the offense it would need early. In the bottom of the first inning, Makenzie Yoder reached base and later came around to score, while Reagan Neitzel delivered an RBI double to give JCCC the lead. Mariah Herrera followed with an RBI single to extend the advantage to 2-0.
The Cavaliers added an insurance run in the sixth inning when Herrera drove in her second run of the game, pushing the lead to 3-0.
Herrera paced the offense, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs, while Yoder and Reese Pattison each recorded a hit. Neitzel also contributed with a double and an RBI.
Earlier in the day, Johnson County erupted offensively in the opener, rolling to an 11-2 run-rule victory behind a 14-hit performance.
The Cavaliers set the tone immediately, scoring three runs in the first inning before breaking the game open with a six-run second to take a commanding 9-1 lead.
Yoder sparked the offense with a perfect 3-for-3 performance, scoring three times, driving in a run, drawing a walk, and stealing two bases. Kennedy Glassford and Neitzel each drove in three runs, with both adding doubles.
Reese Pattison highlighted the power surge with a two-run home run, finishing with two RBIs. Herrera and Alaryce Millard were both perfect at the plate with two hits apiece, with Millard adding a double and an RBI.
In total, JCCC collected 14 hits and drew six walks, consistently applying pressure throughout the game.
In the circle, Kyleigh Whitehurst earned the win, allowing just three hits and two runs over five innings while striking out four.
The sweep showcased Johnson County's ability to dominate in multiple ways—combining explosive offense in the opener with Carrillo's no-hit gem in the finale.
