OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – After opening Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division II play with four wins as part of a perfect 6-0 week, the Johnson County Community College softball team swept the KJCCC Division II Player and Pitcher of the Week honors. Freshman outfielder Kennedy Glassford earned Player of the Week, while sophomore right-hander Elsa Carrillo was named Pitcher of the Week for week seven.
Glassford powered the Cavaliers' offense in doubleheader sweeps over Labette, Cloud County, and St. Louis Community College. She hit .529 (9-for-17) on the week, recording three doubles, two walks, eight runs scored, and 11 RBI.
She opened the week with a dominant performance against Labette, tallying five hits in six at-bats with a double and five RBI in the sweep. Two days later, she added a pair of hits, including another double, against Cloud County. Glassford closed the week by going 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored against St. Louis, finishing with a .579 on-base percentage.
For the season, Glassford is batting .446 (33-for-74) with 10 doubles, four triples, two home runs, 28 runs scored, and 29 RBI.
