Kolarik named NJCAA D-II All-America third-team

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has announced its 2026 Division II Softball All-America teams, and Johnson County Community College has added another name to its prestigious list of honorees.

Sophomore Katie Kolarik earned NJCAA Third-Team All-America recognition, becoming the 50th selection in program history and the ninth under head coach Aubree Brattin-Volkens.

Kolarik played a pivotal role in leading the Cavaliers to Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) and Region 6/Plains District championships, as well as a tie for ninth place at the NJCAA Division II World Series. JCCC finished the season with a 39-13 overall record. Earlier this year, Kolarik was also named first-team All-KJCCC Division II and first-team All-Region 6 Division II.

Kolarik delivered an outstanding sophomore campaign, batting .421 (61-for-145) with 19 doubles, one triple, and a team-leading 16 home runs and 65 RBI. She also scored 45 runs, drew 22 walks, and struck out just seven times. Her 36 extra-base hits rank fifth in program history. She recorded 19 multiple-hit games and 18 multiple-RBI performances, both ranking fourth on JCCC's single-season chart, while her 19 doubles are tied for 16th.

Within the conference, Kolarik tied for first in home runs and RBI, ranked third in extra-base hits, total bases (130), and slugging percentage (.897), and placed among the top 10 in several other categories, including batting average (.421), on-base percentage (.497), doubles, walks, and runs scored. Nationally, she tied for 29th in home runs, ranked 35th in extra-base hits, tied for 40th in RBI, and placed 51st in total bases.

One of her most memorable performances came in Week 12 against Independence, when Kolarik exploded for a grand slam and a three-run home run in the first inning, driving in seven runs—tying for the third-most RBIs in a single game in program history. In the opener of that series, she went 3-for-3 with two doubles, an RBI, and three runs scored, earning KJCCC Division II Player of the Week honors.

Earlier in the season against Kansas City Kansas, Kolarik hit two home runs, including a grand slam, in a in a 9-8 victory. With two grand slams on the season, she became just the third player in program history to record multiple grand slams in a single year.

As a freshman, Kolarik also earned first-team All-KJCCC Division II and All-Region 6 honors after batting .430 with 19 doubles, 11 home runs, 41 runs, and 51 RBI, along with 15 multiple-hit and 15 multiple-RBI games.

Over her two-year career, Kolarik helped guide the Cavaliers to a 75-30 record, one conference title, two Region 6/Plains District championships, and two NJCAA Division II World Series appearances, finishing fifth and ninth. She concluded her career with a .425 batting average (122-for-287), 38 doubles, one triple, 27 home runs, 66 extra-base hits, 53 walks, 86 runs, and 116 RBI.

Kolarik recorded 34 multiple-hit and 34 multiple-RBI games, the second-most in program history. She also ranks tied for second in extra-base hits, third in home runs, third in walks, tied for fifth in doubles, tied for 17th in multiple-hit games, and 26th in batting average.
