OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Johnson County volleyball team, ranked No. 4 in the final NJCAA D-II regular season poll, begins postseason play today hosting the 2021 NJCAA Region 6/District M Tournament.
The Lady Cavaliers won the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division II title and are the No. 1 seed with an overall record of 21-2. They will face eight-seed Coffeyville who finished the regular season at 11-14. The other semifinal match pits No. 4 seed Kansas City Kansas (13-7) and No. 5 seed Cloud County (14-8). The winner of each semifinal will compete for the championship.
Johnson County's match against Coffeyville is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. The other semifinal match will start 40 minutes after and the championship match will start one hour after that match.
District N has No. 2 Highland (16-5) facing No. 7 Fort Scott (10-10) and No. 3 Neosho County (14-8) against No. 6 Cowley (16-10). That tournament is being played in Highland, Kan.
The winner of both district tournament will advance to the NJCAA D-II National Tournament April 13-15 at Alliant Energy Powerhouse in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
