Cavaliers sweep Grand Rapids to stay alive in consolation bracket

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The No. 5-seeded Johnson County Community College volleyball team bounced back from its first-round loss to No. 12 seed Pensacola State by sweeping Grand Rapids Community College 3-0 in consolation play.

Freshman outside/middle hitter Ava Esser delivered an impressive .611 attack percentage while leading the Cavaliers with 11 kills. Sophomore outside hitter Brooke Boyer added eight kills, and freshman outside/middle hitter Lauren Roediger contributed seven.

Freshman setter Campbell Chabot efficiently directed the offense, handing out 31 assists and tying for the team lead in digs with freshman libero Kennedie Witthaus, as both collected nine.

As a team, JCCC hit .411, recorded 14 blocks, and totaled 44 digs in a dominant all-around performance.
