Johnson County No. 1 in first NJCAA D-II volleyball poll of the season

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – After a hot start to the season, the Johnson County volleyball team earned the No. 1 spot in the first National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II poll of the 2022 season. The Cavaliers received all eight first place votes to move from preseason No. 3 to the top spot.  Rounding out the top five are Cowley (7-0), Parkland (9-1), Iowa Central (6-1) and Kirkwood (8-1). 

Johnson County has started the 2020 campaign 8-0 with five wins over teams ranked in the preseason poll, including No. 1 Parkland and No. 4 Iowa Central.

Johnson County sophomore outside hitter Jadyn Troutman (Wellsville, Kan.) ranks second in the country with an attack percentage of .504 through the first eight matches. She has tallied a total of 79 kills and her 3.59 kills per set average is 18th nationally. She also ranks tied for seventh in the NJCAA with 35 total blocks. 

The top-ranked Cavaliers open conference play on Wednesday, August 31 when the host cross-town rival Kansas City Kansas at 6 p.m. Northeastern Oklahoma A&M makes a visit to JCCC on Friday, September 2 with a 6 p.m. scheduled start time.
