OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - Johnson County Community College libero Carlie Martin has been honored as the first NJCAA Division II Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week for the 2025 season. She becomes just the third player in program history to receive this national recognition, joining Maddie Steiner (Sept. 26, 2001) and Taylin Stallbaumer (Sept. 11, 2024).

A sophomore from Meade, Kan., Martin anchored the Cavaliers' defense last Friday with 44 total digs, leading JCCC to back-to-back 3-0 sweeps over No. 15 Des Moines Area Community College and Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College at JCCC Gymnasium. She recorded 19 digs in the opener against DMACC, then posted a season-high 25 digs against NEO A&M—tying the sixth-best single-match effort of her career.

Through eight matches this season, Martin has compiled 137 digs, ranking eighth nationally among NJCAA Division II players.
