OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Johnson County Community College sophomore outside/right-side hitter Avery Ringgenberg and freshman setter Campbell Chabot were rewarded for their stellar play last week, earning the Week Five Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Offensive Player of the Week and Setter of the Week awards.
Ringgenberg turned in a dominant week for the No. 5-ranked Cavaliers, helping her team to a 3-1 record. She totaled 57 kills while hitting an impressive .514 across four matches, while also adding 13 digs and eight blocks. She opened the week against top-ranked Cowley, where she was the only JCCC hitter in double figures, finishing with 11 kills and a .647 attack percentage — the best mark of any player on the floor. She followed with 13 kills on a .524 clip and five digs in a 3-1 win over Central. On Saturday, Ringgenberg delivered 14 kills while hitting .480, along with six digs and three blocks in a 3-1 victory over Lincoln Land. She closed out the week with limited action against Northeast, recording five kills on a .364 percentage in a 3-0 sweep. For the season, she is hitting .368 with 131 total kills.
Chabot fueled the Cavaliers' attack, dishing out 157 assists to add to her conference-leading total. She posted 25 assists against No. 1-ranked and defending national champion Cowley, then followed with a season-high 57 in a 3-1 win over Central — tying for the seventh-most in a single match in JCCC history. She continued her strong play with 40 assists in a 3-1 victory over Lincoln Land and 35 in a 3-0 sweep of Northeast, pushing her league-best total to 592. Chabot also contributed defensively with 33 digs, reaching double figures in all three Cavalier wins. This marks her fourth time in five weeks being selected as the KJCCC D-II Setter of the Week.
