OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - The Johnson County Community College volleyball program was well represented on the 2025 Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division II Team, earning five all-conference selections.
Freshman outside/right-side hitter Ava Esser was named to the first team, while freshman setter Campbell Chabot and sophomore libero Carlie Martin earned second-team honors. Sophomore middle/right-side hitter Avery Ringgenberg and freshman middle/right-side hitter Lauren Roediger were recognized on the third team.
These five standouts have played key roles in leading Johnson County to a 24-7 record, a No. 6 national ranking, a district championship, and a berth in the NJCAA Division II National Championship, set for November 19-22 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Esser has been one of the premier hitters in the conference this season. She ranks fourth in total kills (406), second in kills per set (3.83), and fourth in hitting percentage (.303). She has recorded double-digit kills in 25 matches, highlighted by a record-setting 31-kill performance in a four-set win over Neosho County on September 3, becoming just the 14th player in KJCCC history to record 30 or more kills in a match. Esser also ranks second on the team and ninth in the conference with 77 blocks, and has tallied 191 digs. Currently, she stands 13th on JCCC's single-season kills chart and is on pace to finish among the program's top 10. Three times during the season, Esser was selected as the KJCCC D-II Offensive Player of the Week and in week six she was named the NJCAA and AVCA Offensive Player of the Week.
Chabot has been outstanding as the Cavaliers' primary setter, ranking second in the KJCCC in both total assists (1,027) and assists per set (10.27). Nationally, she ranks 17th in assists and fifth in assists per set. She has recorded double-digit assists in all 29 matches she has played, including a season-high 57 assists against Central and 50 assists in JCCC's district semifinal win over NEO A&M. Chabot also contributes defensively, ranking third on the team with 204 digs and adding 29 aces. She becomes just the 14th player in program history to record more than 1,000 assists in a season. Five times during the season Chabot was named the KJCCC D-II Setter of the Week.
Martin has anchored the Cavaliers' defense throughout the season, collecting 472 digs and averaging 4.50 per set, ranking eighth and fourth, respectively, in the conference. She has posted double-digit digs in 26 of 31 matches, including a season-high 29 digs in the district semifinal win at NEO A&M. Over two seasons, Martin has compiled 1,124 career digs, ranking fourth all-time at Johnson County. Three times during the season, Martin was selected as the KJCCC D-II Defensive Player of the Week and in the first week of the season, she was named the national Defensive Player of the Week by the NJCAA.
Ringgenberg has been a force at the net, ranking among the conference leaders with 98 total blocks (tied for fifth) and 83 block assists (fourth). She delivered her best performances during JCCC's postseason run, tallying six blocks in the district semifinals and a season-high seven in the championship win at Cowley. Offensively, she ranks second on the team with 230 kills, reaching double figures eight times, including 10 in the district semifinals.
Roediger, a redshirt freshman transfer from UMKC, has made a strong impact when called upon. She leads the team with a .341 hitting percentage and ranks second with 2.31 kills per set. She also ranks third on the team with 50 blocks, providing steady production at the net.
