Volleyball NJCAA All-Americans (35)

Marcia Riniker
Outside Hitter (1974-75)
1975 2nd-Team

One of the earliest trailblazers in the rich history of Johnson County Community College volleyball was Marcia Riniker, who etched her name into the record books as the college’s first-ever NJCAA All-American. Riniker capped an outstanding sophomore season in 1975 by earning first-team All-Region VI honors and becoming the first JCCC athlete to be recognized on the NJCAA All-America Team, where she was selected to the second team. That season, Riniker was also named the team’s most valuable player. Her performance helped guide JCCC to its first Region 6 championship, a landmark achievement for the young program, and propelled the Cavaliers to an 11th-place national tournament finish. The team finished 26-3 and captured the program’s second straight Greater Kansas City Conference championship. Against two-year competition, JCCC was 21-1.

Amy Borders
Outside Hitter (1982-83)
1983 1st-Team

Amy Borders became the first JCCC athlete to earn NJCAA All-America first-team honors in 1983. That season, she led the volleyball program to a 43-3 record, a Region 6championship, and a fifth-place finish at the national tournament. Borders was also named to the NJCAA National All-Tournament Team, first-team All-Region 6, and became the first JCCC volleyball player to receive the prestigious Judith K. Bragg Award. A model student-athlete, Borders earned All-Academic honors and remains the only four-sport athlete in JCCC history, also competing in track, basketball, and softball. In 1983, she became the first track and field All-American at JCCC, placing sixth in the discus. Borders was inducted into the JCCC Hall of Fame in May 2002, cementing her legacy as one of the college’s most versatile and accomplished athletes.

Lori Heeter
Outside Hitter (1987-88)
1988 1st-Team

Lori Heeter is considered one of the best volleyball performers in JCCC history, becoming the third NJCAA All-American in school history following an outstanding sophomore season in 1988. She concluded her career at JCCC with record-setting performances, leading the program in 13 statistical categories. Heeter recorded 501 kills with a .296 hitting percentage, set the single-season record for solo blocks with 175, and finished her career with 1,052 total blocks. She was named team MVP and honored as JCCC Female Athlete of the Year, while also earning first-team All-Region 6 recognition twice. Heeter was a multi-sport standout, playing basketball for JCCC and averaging 12.4 points and 10.2 rebounds per game, earning all-conference honors. She continued her athletic career at Idaho State, starting two years in volleyball and one season in basketball, before playing professionally in Europe and for the Kansas City Lightning of the American Volleyball Association. Heeter was inducted into the JCCC Hall of Fame in May 2003 and the NJCAA Hall of Fame in the fall of 2003, cementing her legacy as one of the college’s most accomplished athletes.

Ashley Rawie
Outside Hitter (1998-99)
1999 Honorable Mention

Ashley Rawie became the fourth All-American in JCCC history when she earned honorable mention All-America recognition in 1999, the first player to receive the honor since 1988. She was also named first-team All-Region 6 that season and earned All-Kansas Jayhawk Conference honors twice, earning second-team as a freshman and first-team in her sophomore year. Rawie left her mark among the program’s all-time leaders, ranking third in career kills (683) and digs (649). In recognition of her outstanding 1999 season, she was voted team MVP, solidifying her place as one of JCCC’s top volleyball performers. 

Kaycee Duncan
Outside Hitter (1999-00)
2000 Honorable Mention

Kaycie Duncan became the fifth All-American in JCCC history— and the second in as many years—when she was named to the honorable mention All-America team for the 2000 season. Duncan was voted East Jayhawk Conference Most Valuable Player, becoming the third Cavalier to receive that distinction, and earned All-Region 6/District honors. She left her mark among JCCC’s all-time leaders, ranking in the top 10 with 501 career kills. Her 338 kills during the 2000 season rank 10th in program history. Duncan led JCCC to a win over Southwestern on Oct. 27, 2000 recording a then match record of 26 kills. In recognition of her outstanding season, Duncan was voted team MVP, cementing her legacy as one of the program’s top performers.

Meghan Pudliner
Outside Hitter (2002-03)
2003 Second-Team

Meghan Pudliner developed into one of the top hitters in the country in 2003, earning second-team NJCAA All-America honors after leading JCCC to the 2003 NJCAA D-II National Tournament. She finished the season with 351 kills and a .318 hitting percentage, with her 351 kills ranking ninth on JCCC’s single-season chart. Pudliner ranked 11th all-time in career kills with 451 and led the team with 111 total blocks, including 52 solo blocks, which ranked 14th in program history. Early in the season, Pudliner received the inaugural NJCAA D-II Player of the Week honor after guiding JCCC to a 4-0 week. She was also named East Jayhawk Conference Co-MVP, becoming the fourth Cavalier to earn that distinction, and earned first-team All-Region 6 honors.

Courtney Aguliar
Setter (2003-04)
2003 Honorable Mention

Courtney Aguilar earned honorable mention All-America honors after putting together one of the best seasons by a setter in JCCC history as a freshman. She was also a first-team All-Kansas Jayhawk Conference and All-Region 6 selection. Aguilar became just the fourth player in program history to record over 1,000 assists in a season, finishing with 1,339 assists—the second-highest single-season total in team history. Her 10.5 assists per game ranked seventh nationally in the NJCAA. She registered a personal-best 61 assists in a Region 6 Championship victory over Hesston and led the team with 46 service aces, the 17th-highest single-season total in program history. As a sophomore, Aguilar earned All-Region 6 and All-Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference second-team, solidifying her status as one of the program’s top setters.

Lauren Kracl
Outside Hitter  (2005)
2005 First-Team

Lauren Kracl was selected as a first-team NJCAA and AVCA All-America performer after leading JCCC to a 35-4 record and the program’s first NJCAA National Championship. She was also voted top player in District K, Region VI, and the East Jayhawk Conference, becoming the fifth player in program history to earn conference MVP honors. Kracl was named MVP of the national tournament, leading JCCC with 98 kills and a .270 hitting percentage. In the national semifinal five-set win over Scottsdale, she recorded 23 kills, tying the second-best match total in program history. She followed with 26 kills to tie the all-time single-match record, helping JCCC defeat Cowley and capture the national championship. Kracl ranked among the nation’s leaders in kills and digs per game. Her 434 total kills and 495 digs in 2005 rank third all-time at JCCC. During the season, she was twice named Kansas Jayhawk Conference Player of the Week and earned NJCAA Player of the Week honors for September 18–24. Kracl joined JCCC after earning honorable mention All-MIAA accolades as a freshman at Missouri Western University.

Emily Escher
Outside Hitter (2004-05)
2005 First-Team

Emily Escher earned first-team NJCAA All-America, first-team All-Region 6/District K, and first-team East Jayhawk Conference honors in 2005 while leading JCCC to a 35-4 record and the program’s first NJCAA volleyball national championship. She was also named to the NJCAA All-Tournament Team, leading JCCC with 124 digs and finishing second with 80 kills during the national tournament. Escher ranked second on the team with 367 kills and 540 digs, with her 540 digs ranking as the second-highest single-season total in JCCC history. She was twice named Kansas Jayhawk Conference Player of the Week. Escher joined JCCC after using a redshirt season at Washburn University and transferred for the 2004 season. As a freshman, she earned All-Region 6/District and All-KJCCC honors and was named the team’s MVP. She closed out her career ranked third all-time at JCCC in career kills with 655 and second in career digs with 726.

Katie Latenser
Libero (2005, 2006)

2006 Second-Team

Katie Latenser established herself as one of the top liberos in the country during both her freshman and sophomore seasons, becoming the only player in JCCC history to earn All-America honors in consecutive years. She received honorable mention All-America recognition as a freshman, along with first-team All-Region 6/District K and first-team East Jayhawk Conference honors. Latenser led the team with 584 digs, setting a new single-season record at JCCC (previous record: 452 in 1991) and contributed 55 service aces. Her performance helped guide JCCC to a 35-4 record and the program’s first NJCAA National Championship. A preseason All-American her sophomore season, Latenser went on to earn second-team NJCAA All-America honors, first-team All-Region 6/District K, and first-team East Jayhawk Conference recognition in 2006. She was twice named KJCCC Player of the Week and broke her own single-season digs record with 807, 223 more than her freshman mark. She also set a new career record with 1,391 digs, 648 more than the previous record, and ranked eighth nationally in digs per game with an average of 6.4.

Jackie Swab
Middle Hitter  (2006-07)
2007 First-Team

Jackie Swab earned first-team All-America honors following her sophomore season while helping JCCC to a 28-5 record, an undefeated conference season, and a runner-up finish at the 2007 NJCAA National Tournament, earning a spot on the NJCAA D-II All-Tournament Team. Swab led the team with 358 kills and a .349 attack percentage, averaging 3.3 kills per match. She also added 104 blocks, ranking second on the team. Her 358 kills rank 10th in a single season at JCCC, and she finished her career with 705 kills and 284 blocks, ranking third and 11th all-time in program history, respectively. In addition to her All-America honor, Swab earned first-team All-Region 6/District N and first-team East Jayhawk Conference recognition. As a freshman, she was selected second-team All-Region 6/District and second-team All-KJCCC. Over her two seasons, Swab was twice named KJCCC Player of the Week, earning the honor the first week of both her freshman and sophomore campaigns.

Sydney Pemberton

2008 First-Team

Sydney Pemberton earned second-team NJCAA All-America honors as a freshman in 2007 and followed with first-team recognition her sophomore year. During her two seasons at JCCC, she helped the Cavaliers to back-to-back runner-up finishes at the NJCAA D-II Volleyball Championships, posting a 58-9 overall record, including a 30-4 mark in 2008. Pemberton also earned first-team All-Region 6/District N and first-team East Jayhawk Conference honors twice and was named East Jayhawk Conference MVP. In 2007, she led the team with 132 blocks, averaging 1.211 per game (42nd nationally), and ranked 45th in the NJCAA in hitting efficiency at 34.760 percent. Pemberton also ranked second on the team with 350 kills, which ranks 13th on JCCC’s single-season chart. In 2008, she led the team with 357 kills, a .434 attack percentage, and 113 blocks. Her .434 hitting efficiency ranked seventh nationally, her 3.4 kills per match ranked 18th, and her 1.076 blocks per game ranked 33rd. For her career, Pemberton ranks fourth all-time at JCCC with 707 kills over 241 career games, averaging 2.9 kills per game. She also ranks 16th in career blocks with 245 and fifth in career solo blocks with 97.

Jordan Lockwood
Outside Hitter  (2008-09)
2009 First-Team

Jordan Lockwood earned All-America recognition from both the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) in 2009. She was named first-team NJCAA Division II All-America and second-team AVCA All-America, an honor recognizing athletes from NJCAA Division I, Division II, and California community colleges. Lockwood was also selected to the NJCAA D-II National All-Tournament Team and earned first-team All-East Jayhawk Conference and first-team All-Region 6/District N honors. Lockwood led JCCC with 449 kills and a .235 attack percentage, becoming just the fifth player in program history to surpass 400 kills in a season. She ranked 13th nationally in kills per set (3.65) and recorded 26 matches with double-figure kills, 19 double-figure digs, and 17 double-doubles. A two-time All-East Jayhawk Conference and All-Region 6/District selection, Lockwood finished her career ranked third on JCCC’s single-season and career kill charts (449 and 730, respectively). She also ranked tied for 16th in career aces (71) and 15th in career digs (554). During her two seasons, Lockwood helped JCCC compile a 57-13 record, win two region/district titles, and make two NJCAA Tournament appearances, including a runner-up finish in 2008 and sixth place in 2009. She also was twice honored NJCAA All-Academic, making her the first player in JCCC history to earn both elite athletic and academic recognition.

Emily Hester
Middle Hitter  (2010-11)
2011 First-Team

Emily Hester earned NJCAA first-team All-America honors as a sophomore in 2011, becoming the eighth player in JCCC history to receive first-team recognition. She led the team with 410 kills that season, ranking fifth on the program’s single-season chart, and finished her career with 706 kills, sixth all-time at JCCC. Hester helped guide the Cavaliers to back-to-back District titles over her two seasons, highlighted by top-10 national finishes: second place in her freshman year and tenth in her sophomore campaign. She also earned first-team All-Region 6 honors twice and was a two-time All-East Jayhawk Conference selection, earning second-team recognition in 2010 and first-team honors in 2011.

Jessica Andersen
Setter (2010-11)
2011 Second-Team

Jessica Andersen became just the fourth freshman in JCCC history—and the second setter—to earn NJCAA All-America honors, receiving second-team recognition in 2011. She capped her freshman campaign with 1,336 assists, the third-highest single-season total in program history and just three shy of the freshman record. At the time, she was one of only seven setters in JCCC history to surpass 1,000 assists in a season. Her 8.7 assists-per-set average ranked 27th nationally. Andersen reached double figures in assists in 38 of the Cavaliers’ 39 matches, including a season-high 50 against Central. She also garnered first-team All-Region 6 and second-team All-East Jayhawk Conference honors. As a sophomore, Andersen again surpassed the 1,000-assist milestone, finishing with 1,091. She twice eclipsed her freshman match record of 50 assists—posting 57 against Baker in the regular season finale and 52 against Butler in the Region 6 Tournament semifinals. She became the first setter in JCCC history to eclipse 2,000 career assists, closing her career with 2,427—the most ever recorded at the time.

Preecy Seever
Hitter (2012-13)
2013 First-Team

Preecy Seever put together one of the most decorated sophomore campaigns in JCCC volleyball history. In 2013, she was selected as a first-team NJCAA and AVCA All-American, named to the NJCAA All-Tournament Team, and earned first-team All-Region 6 and All-East Jayhawk Conference honors. She was also recognized as both the East Jayhawk Conference MVP and JCCC’s team MVP. Seever ranked second on the team with 445 kills and led the Cavaliers with an exceptional .422 hitting percentage, the fourth-best mark in NJCAA Division II. Her 445 kills ranked 19th nationally and moved her into fifth on JCCC’s single-season kills chart, while her career total of 632 ranked 12th all-time. She also placed 17th in the nation with a 3.62 kills-per-set average. On the national stage, Seever shined at the NJCAA Tournament, recording 64 kills across four matches and hitting over .500 in three of them, including an eye-popping .667 in the opening-round win over Hagerstown. Her performance helped JCCC to a third-place national finish.  She was twice honored as KJCCC/Verizon Wireless Player of the Week and garnered NJCAA National D-II Player of the Week recognition in early October. As a freshman, Seever earned first-team All-Region 6 and All-East Jayhawk Conference honors. After her JCCC career, she transferred to Rockhurst University, where she became one of the top NCAA Division II players in the nation—culminating in being named the AVCA NCAA D-II National Player of the Year in 2015.

Lori Angelo
Hitter (2012-13)
2013 First-Team

Lori Angello capped her JCCC career in 2013 by earning first-team NJCAA All-America honors, joining teammate Preecy Seever to give the Cavaliers two first-team selections that season. She played a pivotal role in leading JCCC to a third-place finish at the NJCAA Division II National Tournament. Angello paced the Cavaliers with 462 kills, the third-highest single-season total in program history, and ranked second on the team with 394 digs. Nationally, she ranked 14th in kills per set (3.79) and 15th in total kills. Her offensive consistency and defensive contributions made her one of the most complete outside hitters in the country. For her career, Angello finished 13th on JCCC’s all-time kills list with 604 and 11th in career digs with 627. She also earned first-team All-Region 6 and All-East Jayhawk Conference first-team honors in her standout sophomore season.

Brianna Pontious
Hitter (2013-14)
2014 Honorable Mention

Brianna Pontious became the program’s 20th All-America selection—and 15th at the Division II level—when she earned honorable mention honors in 2015. She also collected first-team All-Kansas Jayhawk Conference and All-Region 6 first-team accolades that season. Pontious led the Cavaliers with 386 kills, a total that ranked 45th nationally and 11th on JCCC’s single-season chart. She also averaged 3.19 kills per set, ranking 42nd in the NJCAA. Her standout play helped JCCC to a 23-12 record and a runner-up finish in the District playoffs. As a freshman, Pontious was a key contributor to a 31-7 campaign that included a District title and a third-place national finish. She closed her career ranked ninth on JCCC’s all-time kills list with 667.

Maren Mair
Hitter (2015)
2015 First-Team

Maren Mair became the 11th player in JCCC history to earn first-team NJCAA All-America honors. She also garnered first-team All-Region 6/District M, first-team All-East Jayhawk Conference, and was named the East Jayhawk Conference Freshman of the Year. During the 2016 season, Mair was voted the league’s Offensive Player of the Week in week six. She finished the year ranked second in the conference and ninth nationally in hitting percentage at .367. She also ranked 11th in the conference in kills per set (3.06), 20th in total kills (321), and 16th in blocks per set (0.74). Mair’s 321 kills ranked second on the team, while she led the Cavaliers in blocking with 10 solo and 88 total blocks.

Tori Kerr
Hitter (2015-16)
2015 Second-Team

Tori Kerr earned NJCAA Division II second-team All-America honors and was named to the NJCAA All-Tournament Team after a standout freshman campaign in 2015. She capped her season with 122 digs at the national tournament, including a career-best 41 in the win over Central. Kerr also garnered first-team All-Region 6/District M and second-team All-East Jayhawk Conference accolades. She ranked fourth in the Jayhawk Conference with 782 digs and a 6.02 digs-per-set average, marks that also ranked 13th nationally. Her 782 digs set a JCCC freshman record and still stand second on the program’s single-season chart. She posted 33 double-digit dig matches on the year, including eight with 30 or more. Kerr followed her historic freshman season with All-Region 6/District M and All-Kansas Jayhawk Conference honorable mention honors as a sophomore. She closed her career with 1,074 digs, tied for third-most in JCCC history at the time.

Jade Askren
Setter (2017-18)
2018 First-Team

Jade Askren capped a stellar sophomore season in 2018 by earning NJCAA Division II first-team All-America honors, firmly establishing her place among JCCC’s all-time great setters. She finished her career with 2,122 assists, the third-most in program history, and tied for 11th all-time with 85 service aces. Askren was among the nation’s best setters in 2018, ranking fifth in the Kansas Jayhawk Conference and ninth nationally with 1,337 assists. She also ranked seventh in the conference and 15th in the NJCAA with a 9.76 assists-per-set average. Her 1,337 assists ranked third on JCCC’s single-season chart. She posted double-digit assists in all 37 matches, including 20 or more in 36 contests, 30 or more in 25, 40-plus in 17, and two matches over 50. Her consistency and leadership earned her two KJCCC D-II Setter of the Week honors, as well as first-team All-Kansas Jayhawk Conference and All-Region VI/District M recognition.

Rylie Barnum
Libero (2018)
2018 Second-Team

Rylie Barnum was one of only two liberos in the country selected to the 2018 NJCAA Division II All-America team, earning second-team honors after a record-setting freshman campaign. She led the Kansas Jayhawk Conference and ranked 11th nationally with 743 digs, while also ranking second in the conference and 26th in the NJCAA with a 5.31 digs-per-set average. Her 743 digs ranked third on JCCC’s single-season chart and 11th on the career list. Barnum tallied double-digit digs in 33 matches, including 21 with 20 or more and three matches over 30. Her efforts earned her first-team All-Kansas Jayhawk Conference and All-Region 6/District M honors, along with two KJCCC D-II Defensive Player of the Week awards. She continued her dominance as a sophomore, again being named first-team All-KJCCC and All-Region 6/District M, while also becoming the first player in program history to earn KJCCC Libero of the Year in back-to-back seasons.  That year she registered 622 digs, bringing her career total to 1,365, the second-most in team history and sixth-most in conference history. She also tallied 124 career aces, ranking fourth all-time at JCCC.

Anna Hester
Middle Hitter (2017-18)
2018 Honorable Mention

Anna Hester posted a tremendous sophomore season and became the third member of her family to play for Johnson County, joining her sister Emily (2011) as an All-American selection. Hester earned NJCAA All-America honorable mention in 2018 and left her mark on JCCC’s record books with 707 career kills, tied for fifth all-time, and 209 career block assists, ranking 13th all-time. During the season, she ranked eighth in the Kansas Jayhawk Conference and 17th nationally in the NJCAA with 463 kills. She also ranked eighth in the conference and 37th nationally with a kills-per-set average of 3.31. Her 463 kills were the third-highest single-season total in team history. Hester recorded double-digit kills in 27 matches, including a career-high 23 in a win over Iowa Central, tying the fifth-best match total in program history. In week three of the season, she was named KJCCC and NJCAA Offensive Player of the Week. She was also selected first-team All-KJCCC, first-team All-Region VI/District, and earned All-Tournament honors during JCCC’s run through the national tournament. As a freshman, Hester garnered second-team All-Region VI/District and honorable mention All-KJCCC honors.

Gracie Laforge

2020-21 Lea Plarski Award 

Gracie LaForge earned first-team NJCAA D-II All-America and second-team AVCA All-America honors after helping lead JCCC to a national championship in the 2020 season that took place in the spring of 2021 due to the COVID 19 pandemic. She was also a first-team All-Kansas Jayhawk D-II Conference and first-team All-Region 6 Plains District selection, adding to her second-team all-conference recognition as a freshman. In 2020, LaForge ranked second in the conference and 17th nationally in the NJCAA with a kill percentage of .359. She also ranked seventh in the conference and 18th nationally with 280 kills. She recorded double-digit kills in 11 matches and hit .400 or better 11 times, including a season-best .700 in a win over Cloud County. In the national tournament, LaForge tallied 37 kills, including nine kills and a team-high seven blocks in the championship match. LaForge capped her remarkable season by receiving the 2020–21 Lea Plarski Award, given annually to the NJCAA student-athlete who best exemplifies sportsmanship, leadership, community service, academic excellence, and athletic ability. She became only the second JCCC athlete to earn this prestigious honor. She was also named to the 2020–21 CoSIDA Academic All-America College Division Women’s At-Large Team, becoming the second in program history and fourth in JCCC history to receive Academic All-America recognition.

Mikayla Powell

Mikayla Powell made history the 2020 season that took place in the spring of 2021 due to the COVID 19 pandemic, becoming the most decorated player in a single season in Johnson County Community College volleyball history. Her standout year began with first-team D-II All-KJCCC and first-team All-Region 6/Plains District honors. Powell helped lead the Lady Cavaliers to their first national championship in 16 years and was named the MVP of the national tournament after recording 57 kills with a .339 hitting percentage across four matches. Her 19 kills in the championship match against Parkland secured the title for JCCC. Her individual accolades continued as she earned first-team NJCAA D-II and AVCA All-American honors. A week later, Powell was named NJCAA D-II National Player of the Year—the first in JCCC volleyball history. She finished the season with 363 kills, ranking third in KJCCC D-II and fourth nationally, with a kills-per-set average of 3.59 (fifth in the conference, 20th nationally). She also led the conference in kill percentage at .361, which ranked 15th nationally. Powell recorded double-digit kills in 24 of 27 matches in 2021 and hit over .400 in 15 matches, including a season-best .700 in the Region 6/Plains District championship. A two-time KJCCC D-II Offensive Player of the Week, she finished her career with 711 digs, ranking fifth all-time at JCCC. As a freshman, Powell also earned All-Region 6/District and first-team All-KJCCC honors.

Maddie Steiner

Maddie Steiner capped her 2021 season with first-team NJCAA All-America and third-team AVCA All-America honors after helping Johnson County Community College to a third-place finish at the NJCAA D-II National Tournament. Volleyballmag.com also recognized her by naming her to their All-America team. Steiner led the Lady Cavaliers and ranked third in the Kansas Jayhawk Conference with 663 digs. Her 5.30 digs-per-set average ranked second in the conference and 15th in the NJCAA, while her total digs ranked 27th nationally. She recorded 35 matches with 10 or more digs, 11 with 20+ digs, and four with 30+ digs, including back-to-back 38-dig performances in wins over No. 4 Illinois Central and No. 11 Grand Rapids early in the season. She also contributed 43 service aces. In addition to her All-America selections, Steiner earned first-team D-II All-KJCCC and All-Region 6/Plains District B honors. Following the sixth week of the season, she was named both the conference and national Defensive Player of the Week. Steiner finished her career with 921 digs, ranking ninth all-time at JCCC.

Carly Spachman

Carly Spachman capped her 2021 season by earning second-team NJCAA All-America honors after helping Johnson County Community College to a third-place finish at the NJCAA D-II National Tournament. Spachman finished third on the team with 281 kills and fourth with a kills-per-set average of 2.16. She ranked second on the team, fifth in the Kansas Jayhawk Conference, and 39th nationally with a hitting percentage of .302. She also contributed 49 service aces (third on the team, 11th in the conference) and 113 blocks (second on the team, fourth in the conference). Spachman recorded 11 matches with double-digit kills and tallied 29 kills over the four national tournament matches, including a 12-kill performance in a 3-2 quarterfinal win over No. 5 Sauk Valley. In addition to her All-America honors, Spachman earned second-team D-II All-KJCCC and first-team All-Region 6/Plains District recognition.

Laurenn McClure
Setter (2021-22)
2022 NJCAA Honorable Mention

Lauren McClure capped her 2022 season with NJCAA honorable mention All-America honors after helping Johnson County Community College to a fourth-place finish at the NJCAA D-II National Tournament. She also earned first-team All-Region 6 and first-team All-Kansas Jayhawk Conference recognition. McClure established herself as JCCC’s top setter, serving as the team’s primary playmaker throughout the season. In the first week, she was named KJCCC D-II Setter of the Week. She finished the season ranked fifth in the conference with 861 assists and seventh with a 6.89 assists-per-set average. McClure recorded 38 matches with 10 or more assists, 23 with 20+, and seven with 30+. She also led the team with 50 service aces. For her career, McClure tallied 1,423 assists, ranking 14th all-time in JCCC history, and recorded 66 matches with double-digit assists.

Addyson Mock
Libero (2021-22)
2022 NJCAA Second-Team

Addyson Mock capped her 2022 season with NJCAA second-team All-America honors after helping Johnson County Community College to a fourth-place finish at the NJCAA D-II National Tournament. She also earned first-team All-Region 6 and first-team All-Kansas Jayhawk Conference recognition. Mock led the team with 646 total digs, ranking second in the conference and 19th nationally. That total ranks fifth on JCCC’s single-season chart. She also averaged 4.86 digs per set, ranking fourth in KJCCC D-II. Mock recorded double-digit digs in 35 matches, including 11 with 20 or more. Like teammate Troutman, she was a three-time KJCCC D-II Player of the Week, earning top defensive honors in weeks four, seven, and ten. For her career, Mock finished ninth all-time at JCCC with 881 digs.

Jadyn Troutman

2022 NJCAA First-Team

Jadyn Troutman became the 15th player in Johnson County Community College history to be selected first-team NJCAA All-America after helping the Lady Cavaliers to a fourth-place finish at the NJCAA D-II National Tournament in 2022. She also earned second-team AVCA All-America honors. Troutman led the team with 402 kills, ranking fifth in the conference with an average of 3.24 kills per set. That total also ranks 11th on JCCC’s single-season chart. She finished second in the conference and 15th nationally with a .347 kill percentage. Troutman led the conference with 168 total blocks, which ranks fifth in the NJCAA. She reached double-digit kills in 24 matches, including a season-high 16 against Parkland in the national tournament finale. During the regular season, Troutman was honored as the KJCCC Offensive Player of the Week three times—in weeks one, five, and seven. She also earned first-team All-KJCCC D-II and All-Region 6/Plains District recognition her freshman and sophomore seasons. For her career, Troutman tallied 715 kills (fourth all-time at JCCC), 275 blocks (12th all-time), and 250 block assists (seventh all-time).

Sarina Ulberg

Sarina Ulberg became the 16th player in Johnson County Community College history to be selected first-team NJCAA All-America after helping the Lady Cavaliers to a third-place finish at the NJCAA D-II National Tournament in 2023. She also earned first-team All-America honors from VolleyballMag.com, becoming just the fourth JCCC player to receive that distinction. Ulberg was additionally named first-team All-Kansas Jayhawk Conference D-II and All-Region 6/District. Ulberg had a standout sophomore season, leading the team with 408 total kills. She ranked fourth in the conference and 30th nationally, with her total kills placing her 11th on JCCC’s single-season chart. She posted a .293 kill percentage, which ranked fourth in the conference, and averaged 3.07 kills per set, seventh-best in the conference. Ulberg also shined in the national tournament, recording 75 total kills—the fourth-most ever in tournament play in JCCC history. In the opening win over Gulf Coast State, she collected 21 kills, tying the fourth-best single-match total in program history. For her career, Ulberg tallied 556 total kills, ranking 20th all-time at JCCC.

Bella Hedke

2024 NJCAA Second-Team

Bella Hedke became the 34th player in Johnson County Community College history to earn NJCAA All-America honors and the 29th in Division II after a standout 2024 season. She helped lead the Lady Cavaliers to a 30-7 record, a District Championship, and a runner-up finish at the NJCAA Division II National Tournament. Hedke was also named first-team All-Region 6 and All-Kansas Jayhawk Conference D-II. Hedke emerged as one of the premier defensive players in the conference. A second-team all-conference selection, she led the conference with 1.25 blocks per set, ranking seventh nationally. She also recorded 152 total blocks—37 more than the next highest player—which also ranked seventh in the nation, along with 138 total block assists, fifth-most nationally. Offensively, Hedke contributed 268 kills, averaging 2.20 per set, hit .268, and averaged 2.9 points per set. She also etched her name in JCCC career record books, totaling 284 career blocks and 258 block assists, ranking tied for 10th and seventh all-time, respectively. Hedke recorded the third-most blocks in a single match with 14 against Heartland on September 6.

Ava Esser

2025 NJCAA First-Team

Ava Esser  capped a phenomenal freshman campaign by earning NJCAA Division II first-team All-America honors.  Esser becomes the 35th All-American in JCCC volleyball history and the 22nd chosen under head coach Jennifer Ei. Her standout play helped lead the Cavaliers to a 25-9 record, a trip to the NJCAA Division II National Tournament, and a No. 6 final national rankingEsser finished the season with 460 kills, ranking third in the conference and tied for 14th nationally. Her 3.87 kills per set were fourth-best in the KJCCC. She added 212 digs, 80 blocks, and 28 aces while posting 28 double-figure kill matches. One of the signature moments of her season came in the conference opener at Neosho County, where she delivered a program-record 31 kills, becoming just the 14th conference player ever to record 30 or more in a match. At the National Tournament, Esser elevated her play again, totaling 54 kills in three matches (4.08 per set). She opened with 23 kills in a five-set battle against Pensacola State, tying the second-most kills ever by a Cavalier at nationals and ranking seventh most in program history. Esser’s 460 kills now stand as the fourth-highest single-season total in JCCC history and most by a freshman. Her 28 double-digit kill performances rank third all-time. Earlier in the season, she was also named first-team All-Kansas Jayhawk Conference D-II and first-team All-Region 6 D-II. She earned KJCCC D-II Offensive Player of the Week honors three times and was recognized nationally in week six as both the NJCAA and AVCA Offensive Player of the Week.
