Head Coach
Florida Atlantic University '00/University of Kansas '06
19th season
511-149 (.774)

Through 18 seasons as head volleyball coach at Johnson County Community College, Jennifer Ei has established herself as one of the most successful and respected coaches in NJCAA history. Ei owns a career record of 511–149 (.774 winning percentage), ranking first among active Kansas Jayhawk Conference coaches, fifth all‑time in conference history and second in program history. Under her direction, JCCC has become a perennial national contender and a model program both on and off the court.

Ei has led the Lady Cavaliers to 14 NJCAA National Tournament appearances, the most in Kansas Jayhawk Conference history, including a NJCAA Division II National Championship in 2020–21, runner‑up finishes in 2008, 2010 and 2024, and seven top‑three national finishes. Her teams have appeared in 167 of 176 NJCAA Coaches Polls (95%), including 113 top‑five rankings and 17 weeks at No. 1. Johnson County has finished in the top five of the NJCAA season‑ending poll nine times during Ei’s tenure.

Conference dominance has also defined Ei’s career. Her teams have posted a 151–35 Kansas Jayhawk Conference record (.812), capturing four conference championships (2010, 2015, 2020, 2022) and finishing runner‑up five additional times. Ei has been named KJCCC East Division Coach of the Year twice, NJCAA D‑II National Coach of the Year, and NJCAA National Tournament Coach of the Year (2020–21).

Ei’s impact extends to individual success, mentoring 22 NJCAA All‑Americans (13 first‑team), including one NJCAA National Player of the Year, along with eight AVCA All‑Americans, four VolleyballMag.com All‑Americans, 17 NJCAA All‑Tournament selections, and 67 All‑Region/District honorees. She has also helped 77 student‑athletes earn scholarships to four‑year institutions.

Equally noteworthy is Ei’s emphasis on academic excellence. Over her 18 seasons, 83 percent of her players (192 of 230) have posted GPAs of 3.0 or higher, with multiple seasons achieving a 100 percent team GPA rate above 3.0. Seventy‑four student‑athletes have earned NJCAA Academic Student‑Athlete honors, including 24 with perfect 4.0 GPAs. Three Lady Cavaliers have earned Academic All‑America® honors, a distinction rarely achieved in junior college volleyball.

A JCCC alumna, Ei took over the program in 2008 after serving five seasons as top assistant under NJCAA Hall of Fame coach Jill Stinson. As both an assistant and head coach, she has played a central role in building one of the most successful volleyball programs at the two‑year level. Ei holds a bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Florida Atlantic University and a master’s degree in sports administration from the University of Kansas.
