Williams named third-team NJCAA All-American

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The National Junior College Athletic Association announced its All-America baseball team yesterday, and Johnson County Community College freshman first baseman Malik Williams (Satec/Toronto, Ontario) was a third-team selection. He is the 14th JCCC player to be selected All-American, and the 10th under the direction of Hall of Fame coach Kent Shelley.

Williams hit at a .397 clip (89-for224) in 2018, second best on the team, along with 15 doubles, two triples, a team-high 17 home runs and a team high 78 runs driven in. He ranked second in the conference and seventh in the NJCAA in home runs, and fifth and ninth respectively in hits. Williams also set a season record with 31 multiple-hit games, and led the team with 21 multiple-RBI games, third highest total in team history.  His 89 hits and 78 RBI also rank third on JCCC's season charts. He also ranks eighth in home runs and had a 16-game hitting streak during the season that ties the fifth longest at JCCC.

Previously, Williams earned Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference All-East Division first-team and All-Region VI first-team honors.  He also was voted the KJCCC Player of the Week for weeks 13 and 14.
