OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - The No. 1-ranked Johnson County Community College baseball team continued its historic offensive surge Thursday afternoon, sweeping a doubleheader from Neosho County Community College in dominant fashion at the JCCC Baseball Complex. The Cavaliers rolled to a 13-3 victory in the opener before erupting for a 28-0 rout in game two.
Johnson County's lineup overwhelmed Neosho County pitching all day, combining for 41 runs on 37 hits across the two contests while its pitching staff allowed just three runs.
In game one, the Cavaliers wasted no time taking control, scoring twice in the first inning before breaking the game open with a six-run second and a four-run third. JCCC finished with 13 runs on 13 hits in the five-inning run-rule victory. Logan Groh powered the offense with two hits, including a home run, and a game-high five RBIs. Ryan Bradford, Colin Coonradt and Boston Bruce also homered, while Bruce added two hits and two RBIs behind the plate.
On the mound, Liam Roche earned the win, striking out eight over four innings while allowing three runs on seven hits. He was followed by a scoreless inning from Anson Siebert to secure the victory.
If game one set the tone, game two took it to another level.
Johnson County delivered one of its most explosive offensive performances of the season, plating 28 runs on 24 hits in the nightcap. The Cavaliers scored in every inning, including six runs in the fifth and eight more in the sixth to cap the rout.
Brayden Giesler led the barrage with three hits, including two home runs, and a game-high seven RBIs. Briggs Roe added two home runs and four RBIs, while Isaac Pamaran and Groh each collected four hits. Lukas Wilson also homered twice and drove in four runs as part of the Cavaliers' 10 extra-base hits in the game.
On the mound, Ronin Vicenti tossed five shutout innings to earn the win, allowing just two hits while striking out six. He combined with Colin Conrad and Keston Holman to complete the two-hit shutout.
With the sweep, Johnson County continued its remarkable early-season run, showcasing both its depth and firepower as one of the nation's top teams.
