OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - No. 1-ranked Johnson County Community College continued its dominant spring on Thursday, sweeping the first two games of a four-game series at Allen County while extending its winning streak to 20 games. The Cavaliers improved to 36-2 overall with convincing wins of 11-0 and 12-5.
JCCC wasted no time asserting itself in the opener, erupting for 11 runs on 12 hits in a five-inning run-rule victory. After a quiet first inning, the Cavaliers broke through in the second before putting the game out of reach with a four-run third and a six-run fourth.
A balanced offensive attack powered the rout, with eight different players recording hits. Colin Coonradt led the way with a pair of doubles and two RBIs, while Briggs Roe added two hits, including a home run, and drove in two. Ryan Bradford also homered and finished with two RBIs, and Jack Jones went a perfect 2-for-2 with a walk and an RBI.
On the mound, Liam Roche was sharp from the start, tossing a complete-game two-hit shutout over five innings. He struck out eight and allowed just one walk, keeping Allen off balance all afternoon.
The Cavaliers carried that momentum into game two, where the offense turned in another explosive performance—this time piling up 12 runs on 15 hits in a nine-inning victory.
JCCC scored in seven of nine innings, using steady pressure and timely power to keep Allen at bay. The Cavaliers launched seven home runs in the nightcap, showcasing their depth and power throughout the lineup.
Brayden Giesler delivered a standout performance, going 3-for-5 with three RBIs and a home run. Coonradt added another big game with two hits, including a pair of home runs, while driving in two. Logan Groh and Bradford also homered, and Boston Bruce and Roe each contributed long balls as part of the offensive surge.
Despite Allen collecting 13 hits, JCCC's pitching staff limited the damage. Starter Ronin Vicenti earned the win, allowing two runs over four innings. The bullpen combined to scatter 11 hits over the final five frames, with Keston Holman providing a key two-inning scoreless outing to stabilize the middle innings.
With the sweep, the Cavaliers not only maintained their No. 1 national ranking but continued to build momentum as one of the most complete teams in the country. Now riding a 20-game winning streak and sitting at 36-2 overall, JCCC will look to finish off the four-game series against Allen on Saturday with the same relentless approach that has defined its season. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
