JCCC Stays Red Hot with Doubleheader Sweep, Historic Start Continues

The image shows a baseball player, Ashton Hartwig, standing in the batter’s box during what appears to be an outdoor game or practice. The player is wearing a white jersey with dark piping and the number 6 displayed on the front. The uniform includes long black sleeves underneath the jersey, batting gloves, and a dark-colored batting helmet.
The player is holding a bat in a ready stance, positioned over the shoulder and angled upward, as if preparing for an incoming pitch. The bat has a blue and red design near the barrel.
In the background, slightly out of focus, another individual wearing a dark jacket, white pants, and yellow socks stands near the edge of the field. A fence and leafless trees are visible farther behind, suggesting early spring or late fall conditions.
The overall scene captures a moment of concentration and preparation at the plate, with attention to baseball gear, field surroundings, and athletic posture.

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The No. 1-ranked Johnson County Community College baseball team extended its dominance Saturday afternoon, completing a four-game sweep of Labette Community College with 13-4 and 19-7 victories at the JCCC Baseball Complex.

The Cavaliers have now won eight consecutive series and improved to 30-2 on the season — the best start in program history.

In the opener, Johnson County broke the game open with a nine-run fourth inning on its way to a 13-4 victory. Ryan Bradford, Logan Groh and Colin Coonradt each homered in the frame. Bradford launched a three-run shot, Groh added a two-run blast, and Coonradt followed with a solo home run to center field.

Ashton Hartwig delivered another key hit in the sixth inning, ripping a bases-clearing triple to help seal the win, while Lukas Wilson contributed a double and drove in two runs.

Ashton Nance earned the victory. The right-hander gave three hits and one run over four innings, striking out six.  Max Waldschmidt, Rocco Loffredo and Cooper Westra each pitched one inning in relief.

In the second game, Coonradt and Hartwig once again powered the Cavaliers' offense. Coonradt finished with a single and two home runs, scoring four times and driving in four runs. Hartwig added three hits, including an RBI single and a two-run homer.

Bradford continued his strong day with a double, three runs scored and two RBI. Boston Bruce and Wilson each drove in two runs, while Isaac Pamaran gave JCCC an early spark with a two-run home run on the third pitch of the game.

Victor Christal got the start and victory. The right-hander gave up three hits and six runs (three earned) over two and one-third innings, striking out four. Bryalon Brooks took the mound and allowed just one hit over two and two-thirds innings with four strikeouts. Cooper Frazier and Lance Alexander each threw one scoreless inning.

Johnson County will return to action Thursday, March 26, opening a four-game series against Neosho County Community College. The teams will play a doubleheader at JCCC before concluding the series Saturday, March 28, in Chanute, Kansas.
