JCCC opens conference play with a 65-57 road win to stay unbeaten

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Sophomore guard Jacionna Stowers nailed seven 3-pointers on her way to a game-high 23-points to power the No. 1-ranked and undefeated Lady Cavaliers to a hard-fought 65-57 victory at Fort Scott Community College Saturday afternoon. 

Stowers was the only JCCC player to reach double figures as the Lady Greyhounds managed to hold Johnson County 18 points below their season average.  Sophomore guards Jadah Anderson and Paige Elston were next in scoring with nine and eight respectively. 

Freshman point guard Jess Myers contributed seven assists and 11 rebounds to go along with three points. 

Johnson County (21-0/1-0) will battle No. 3-ranked Highland Community College (17-1/1-0) tonight at 5:30 p.m.  This game was originally scheduled for last Wednesday, Jan. 23, but was postponed due inclement weather. The Lady Scotties pulled out a tough 74-72 home win over Labette in their conference opener Saturday.
