No. 1 JCCC women blitz Neosho with 29-point first quarter, cruise to 92-53 win

OVERLAND PAR, Kan. – The No. 1-ranked Johnson County Community College women's basketball team wasted no time asserting control Wednesday night, draining shots, converting free throws and holding Neosho County to just four points in a dominant 29-4 first quarter on the way to a 92-53 victory.

With the win, JCCC remains perfect at 23-0 and extended the Cavaliers' regular-season winning streak to 86 consecutive games.

Johnson County connected on 9-of-18 shots in the opening quarter, including two 3-pointers, and went a perfect 10-for-10 from the free-throw line. The Cavaliers finished the game shooting 32-of-72 from the field, knocked down three 3-pointers and converted 25-of-35 free throws.

Freshman Anonda Ford paced the Cavaliers with a game-high 25 points, nine rebounds and eight assists. Fellow freshman Jade Warren added 14 points, while sophomore Layla Scott contributed 15 points, six rebounds and fiveassists. Freshman Mia Adams chipped in 13 points and seven rebounds, and freshman Makenna Jennings provided solid minutes off the bench with nine points and seven boards.

Laynie Winfrey led Neosho County with nine points.

Johnson County returns home Saturday, Jan. 31, to host Allen Community College at 2 p.m. Allen Community College received votes in the latest NJCAA Division II Women's Basketball Rankings.
