No. 1 Cavaliers roll past No 15 Kansas City Kansas, improve to 20-0

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – In a 103-51 rout of No. 15-ranked Kansas City Kansas, Johnson County shot a season-best 60 percent from the field to post the second largest margin of victory in the 106-game series between the two programs. With the win, the No. 1-ranked Cavaliers improved to 20-0 overall and 2-0 in conference play.

Freshmen Mia Adams, Anonda Ford and Jade Warren powered the Cavaliers offense, combining to shoot 18-of-22 attempts (82%). Sophomore Layla Scott added another milestone performance, draining four 3-point baskets to surpass Kylee Williams as Johnson County's all-time career leader with 193 made 3-pointers.

Adams led JCCC with 20 points, shooting 7-of-9 from the field with two 3-pointers and going 4-for-5 at the free throw line. Scott followed with 18 points while also contributing eight rebounds, four assists and two steals. Warren finished with 17 points on 6-of-7 shooting and a perfect 5-for-5 performance at the line, while Ford added 15 points on 5-of-6 shooting and a flawless 5-for-5 at the stripe.

Off the bench, Makenna Jennings pulled down eight rebounds and scored five points. Kara Stricklin rounded out the balanced effort with seven points, four rebounds and three assists.

Sandra Hracks and Yaslyn Gonzales led Kansas City Kansas in scoring with 12 points apiece.

Johnson County returns to action on Wednesday, January 21, when the Cavaliers host Labette. Opening tip is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
