OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Layla Scott moved closer to the program's all-time 3-point record, draining six treys and finishing with a season-high 28 points as No. 1-ranked Johnson County Community College cruised to a 101-35 victory over Metropolitan Community College on Saturday afternoon.
Scott now has 180 career made 3-pointers, leaving her just eight shy of the school record with half a season still remaining. Her 28-point performance ranks as the second-highest scoring output of her career. She also contributed four rebounds and four steals.
ara Stricklin was one of four additional Cavaliers to score in double figures, finishing with 17 points. Anonda Ford followed with 14 points and five rebounds, while Korrie Holcer and Jade Warren each added 11 points. The Cavaliers seized control early, outscoring the Wolves 31-8 in the opening quarter and extending the margin with a dominant 27-2 second quarter to take a 58-10 lead into halftime.
Katrina Wilson led Metropolitan with 10 points.
Johnson County improved to 17-0 on the season and will play its final non-conference game Sunday against Graceland University JV before opening conference play on Wednesday, January 14, at Highland Community College.
