Scott and Stricklin have double-doubles in JCCC’s 77-44 victory over North Central Missouri

The photo shows a basketball game in progress on an indoor court. In the foreground, a player wearing a white uniform with blue and gold accents, marked with the number 3 and the word Cavaliers, is executing a jump shot. The player is airborne with arms fully extended, releasing the basketball toward the hoop. Another player in a black uniform with red trim and the number 10 is positioned defensively, reaching upward to contest the shot.
The background features blue bleachers with several spectators seated, some holding basketballs. The court floor has visible markings and lettering, likely indicating the home team or school name. The overall setting suggests a competitive game environment with bright lighting and a polished wooden floor.

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Sophomore guard Layla Scott and Kara Stricklin delivered matching double-doubles to power the No. 1-ranked Johnson County Community College women's basketball team over North Central Missouri College 77-44 Saturday afternoon. It marked the first time since January 25 of last season—also in a win over Labette—that two Cavaliers posted double-doubles in the same game.

Scott led a balanced JCCC attack with 15 points and 10 rebounds, and came close to a rare triple-double, finishing with eight steals. Her eight thefts tie her for 14th on the program's single-game list. Stricklin added 13 points and a game- and career-high 11 boards.

Freshman forward Mia Adams, freshman guard Anonda Ford chipped in 12 points apiece, while freshman forward Makenna Jennings added 10 points and seven rebounds, giving the Cavaliers five player in double figures.

JCCC's defense controlled the game from the outset, holding the Pirates to 25 percent shooting and keeping every opposing player under 10 points. The Cavaliers surged to a 21–5 first-quarter lead behind 54-percent shooting and extended the margin to 44–18 by halftime, never allowing North Central Missouri to threaten.

The Cavaliers will play in the Des Moines Area Classic next weekend, facing Triton College Friday and Waldorf University JV on Saturday.
