JCCC men’s soccer improves to 3-0-0 on the season

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Johnson County men's soccer team improved to 3-0-0 on the season with a pair of road victories over the weekend. On Friday, the Cavaliers defeated Southwestern Illinois a 2-0, and on Sunday they downed Lewis & Clark 2-1.

Freshman forward Ashton Owen scored the first goal at the 10 minute mark off an assist from Alan Lopez.  JCCC added an insurance goal in the 76th minute off the foot of Rajae Lawrence, with the assist going to Evan Burns

Freshman goalkeeper Brandon McGaugh recorded three saves on three shots faced to earn his second career shutout. 

Owen again started the scoring in the win at Lewis & Clark, finding the back of the net in the 10th minute. Freshman midfielder Gene Powell was credited with the assists. 

Freshman midfielder Troy Henry fed Lopez in the 58th minute to put the Cavaliers up 2-0. That proved to be the game winner after the Trailblazers pulled to with a score on a penalty kick in the 70th minute. 

Freshman goalkeeper Cole Stewart picked up his second victory of the season, stopping three of the four shots he faced. 

Johnson County will travel to Coffeyville Community College to open conference play on Wednesday, September 1.
