OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference recently announced the 2021 men's soccer all-conference performers, and Johnson County Community College had five players selected for the East Division teams. Earning first-team honors were freshman forward Alan Lopez and sophomore midfielder Troy Henry. Second-team honors were presented to freshman midfielder Paul Choi, freshman defender Micah O'Garro and freshman goalkeeper Cole Stewart.
Lopez led Johnson County and ranked second in the conference in points (30), goals scored (10) and assists (10). Those totals ranked him 19th, 32nd and 11th respectively in the NJCAA. His 10 assists tie for 10th on JCCC's season chart. Lopez also tied for the team lead in game winning goals (2) and game winning assists (2). He netted a pair of goals in his first collegiate game, including the game winner, to lead the Cavaliers to a 5-2 win over Southeast on August 22. Later in the season he recorded four assists in an 8-2 win over Hesston, which tied both a school and KJCCC record for most in a game. Twice during the season Lopez was selected as the Player of the Week, earning the honors in weeks seven and nine.
Henry was the Cavaliers' second leading scorer with 15 points. He was also second in goals scored with six and was third in assists with three. He had one game winning goal and tied for the team lead with two game winning assists.
Choi and O'Garro were part of JCCC's defensive pool that allowed 34 goals, a goals against average of 1.97 with two shutouts. Both players also helped out on the offensive end during the season. Choi registered two assists on the season, and O'Garro tallied two goal and an assist for five points.
Stewart finished the season with a mark of 5-4-1 with one shutout. He logged 820-mintues with a goals against average of 2.37. He made 54 saves and had a save percentage of .740. In the fourth week of the season, Stewart was selected the KJCCC D-I Goalkeeper of the Week after earning his first shutout in a 6-0 victory over Allen. Later in the season, he stopped 14 shots in a 1-0 overtime loss to Cowley. That effort tied the second-most saves made in a game by a Cavalier keeper. He also provided an assist on JCCC first goal in a 4-2 win at Crowder, becoming just the ninth goalkeeper in team history, and first since Caleb Cothrin in 2016, to register an assist.
