JCCC men’s soccer cracks top 20 in national poll

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Winners of five straight, four by shutout, the Johnson County men's soccer team has moved into the NJCAA national poll for the first time since early portion of the 2020 season, taking over the No. 20 spot. 

The Cavaliers currently stand 7-3-0 and have outscored their opponents 21-to-1 over their last five victories. 

Offensively the Cavaliers have been led by sophomore forward Alan Lopez and freshman forward Jacksyn McIntyre. Lopez leads the team in both points (20) and assists (6). He is tied with McIntyre in goals scored with seven.  McIntyre also has three assists giving him a total of 17 points.  Their two season point totals rank fourth and seventh in the conference, and their seven goals scored tie for sixth

In the nets sophomores Brandon McGaugh and Cole Stewart have been splitting duties. McGaugh is 5-2-0 with three shutouts and a 1.09 goals against average. Stewart is 2-1-0 with one shutout and a GAA of 0.67. Both have been selected as the KJCCC Goalkeeper of the Week this season.

The Cavaliers will look to push their win streak to six straight when the host Neosho County on Wednesday, September 21 at 7 p.m.
