OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) announced its 2025 men's soccer awards and Johnson County Community College had seven players named to the All-KJCCC Division II Men's Soccer Team. Additionally, Jeff Cole was named the KJCCC D-II Coach of the Year for the second time of his career.
Earning first-team were freshman forward Khoi Woods, sophomore midfielder Ben Points, sophomore midfielder Kael Drummond, sophomore defender Michael Bernebe, freshman defender Peyton McCawley and freshman goalkeeper Daniel Wozniak. Freshman forward Conor Meyers was selected as a second-team performer.
Coach Cole and these seven players have helped lead JCCC to a 13-4-4 record, a Region 6 title – the first since 2005 – defeating previously unbeaten and No. 5-ranked Neosho County 2-1 to advance to the NJCAA D-II North Plains District Championship Match against Iowa Lakes Friday night. Three of JCCC's four losses have come to team who are currently ranked in the top 12 of the NJCAA D-II Men's Soccer Poll. The No. 15-ranked Cavaliers have won their last five matches heading in the Friday night's matchup with the No. 7-ranked Lakers.
Woods has produced a fantastic freshman season ranking second in the conference in points (25), goals (10) and tied for fourth in assists (5). He is also tied for third in the conference with two game-winning goals. Two of his assists have led to game-winning goals.
Points leads the team and ranks second in the conference with seven assists. He also has two goals and ranks tie for fourth overall on the team with 11 points. One of his goals was a game-winner and two of his assists led to the game-winning score – most recently in JCCC's 3-0 win over Kansas City Kansas in the opening round of the Region 6 Tournament.
Drummond has proven to be a work-horse box-to-box over his career for the Cavaliers. This year he had two goals and one assist, which is possibly the biggest of the season. His throw in led to what proved to be the game-winning goal against Neosho County in the Region 6 Championship Match.
Bernebe, a team captain this season, along with McCawley have helped anchor the back line for the Cavaliers' defense that has recorded eight shutouts and goals against average of 1.19 that ranks second-lowest in the conference and 19th lowest nationally. Their eight shutouts lead the conference and rank tied for 12th in the NJCAA.
Wozniak enters the District Championship with a 9-3-2 record with five shutouts, a .840 save percentage and a goals against average of 1.10. His five shutouts tie for the lead in the conference and for 10th among NJCAA D-II goalkeepers. Three times during the season, Wozniak was chosen the KJCCC D-II Goalkeeper of the Week, earning the honor is weeks two, three and 10. He was also selected the NJCAA D-II Goalkeeper of the Week in the second week after posting a pair of shutout victories over North Iowa Area and No. 3-ranked Iowa Lakes.
Meyers, who is one of only three JCCC players to play in and start all 21 matches, ranks second on the team in points with 15, scoring six goals and assisting on three. His 15 points and six goals tie him for fifth in the conference, and he his tied for third with two game-winning goals. Meyers enters the match Friday night on the heels of his best performance of the season – scoring both of JCCC's goals to lead them to a 2-1 victory over Neosho County in the Region 6 Championship. He opened the scoring with a corner kick tat sailed over the Panthers defense and into the back corner of the net. Five minutes later he headed a ball for a second score off a throw in, which proved to be the game-winner.
