OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Johnson County sophomore Jaland Whitehead has been selected the Kansas Jayhawk Conference Division II and NJCAA D-II Men's Basketball Player of the Week for week six.
The 6-9 forward averaged double-double of 19.2 points and 11.7 rebounds, while leading the No. 3-ranked Cavaliers improve to 15-0 with three victories last week. He also shot 49 percent from the field. Whitehead posted a double-double in all three games, giving him 10 on the season and 23 for his career at JCCC. That 23 total moves him into a tie for second all-time and just one shy of the career mark of 24.
Whitehead currently leads the NJCAA in total rebounds with 169 and his 11.3 season average is second best.
