JCCC men roll past Fort Scott behind big second half

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The No. 3-ranked Johnson County Community College men's basketball team pulled away in the second half to defeat Fort Scott Community College, 91-66, Monday night.

The Cavaliers held a slim lead at 45-42 with 15 minutes to play then went on a 13-2 run and built a 20-point lead with just over six minutes left.

Freshman Bryce Walker led a balanced scoring effort, finishing with 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting while adding seven rebounds. Sophomore forward Tavian Cruse recorded his ninth double-double of the season and 24th of his career, totaling 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Freshman Avian Webb also scored 14 points, while freshman Trey Fulcher and sophomore Joey Robinson contributed 13 and 10 points, respectively. Sophomore Aidan Wing returned to the lineup after missing several games with an injury and posted eight points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore Gavin Harvey added nine points and dished out a team-high seven assists.

Makaen Hasting paced Fort Scott with 18 points, while Noah Porter and J'Twane Mike each chipped in 10.

Johnson County has a quick turnaround traveling to Neosho County Community College on Wednesday, January 28.
