Balanced attack powers No. 3 Cavaliers past KCKCC, 78-59

Behind a balanced scoring effort, the No. 3-ranked Johnson County men's basketball team earned a key Kansas Jayhawk Conference victory,78-59, over rival Kansas City Kansas on Saturday afternoon. With the victory, Johnson County improved to 19-0 on the season, and 2-0 in conference play.

Johnson County placed five players in double figures, led by Avian Webb with 15 points. The Cavaliers built a nine-point halftime advantage and later extended the lead to as many as 21 points before settling in for the 19-point victory.

Trey Fulcher and Gavin Harvey followed with 13 points apiece, while Bryce Walker added 12. Tavian Cruse recorded his sixth double-double of the season, finishing with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Joey Robinson narrowly missed a double-double of his own, contributing eight points and nine boards.

Kansas City Kansas was led by Kamoni Ford with 14 points. Anthony Leonard added 13, and Malik Lewis finished with 12.

Johnson County returns to action on Wednesday, January 21, when the Cavaliers host Labette. Opening tip is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
