The player in the foreground wearing a white uniform with yellow and black trim, labeled “JOHNSON COUNTY” and number 11, is executing a jump shot with one arm extended high above the head. Another player in a teal uniform with black lettering, labeled “CHANDLER GILBERT” and number 12, is positioned defensively nearby, reaching out toward the shooter. A referee in a black-and-white striped shirt stands behind them, observing the play. In the background, there are rows of blue bleachers and several individuals seated on the bench, some wearing athletic gear and others in casual clothing. OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The one-two punch of guard Avian Webb and forward Tavian Cruse powered the No. 5-ranked Johnson County Community College men's basketball team to an 84–81 overtime victory over Chandler-Gilbert Community College Saturday night, preserving the Cavaliers' perfect 9-0 record.

Webb knocked down five 3-pointers on his way to a season-high 27 points, while Cruse delivered 23 points and a game-high 12 rebounds for his second double-double of the season. The duo shot a combined 60 percent from the field, while the rest of the Cavaliers connected at a 32-percent clip.

Aidan Wing also reached double figures with 10 points. Joey Robinson grabbed eight rebounds to go with five points, and Gavin Harvey contributed eight points, six rebounds, and four clutch free throws in the closing moments of overtime to secure the win.

JCCC trailed by five at halftime but battled back to take control late in regulation. However, Chandler-Gilbert forward Carter Korab buried a deep 3-pointer with two seconds remaining to force overtime. Korab finished with 16 points and was one of five Coyotes to score in double digits.

The Coyotes won the battle on the glass 45–36, but the Cavaliers were extremely efficient taking care of the ball, committing a season-low five turnovers.

Johnson County returns to action Tuesday night with a short trip across town to face Metropolitan Community College.
