Wing’s season-high 27 points lifts No. 3 Cavaliers to overtime win, 14-0 start

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The No. 3-ranked Johnson County Community College men's basketball team weathered a second-half rally and pulled out a 92-87 overtime victory to remain undefeated at 14-0.

Johnson County led by 10 at halftime, but saw the advantage slip away in the second half before regrouping in overtime to secure the win.

Sophomore guard Aidan Wing delivered a season-high 27 points to pace the Cavaliers. He connected on 10-of-20 shots and was a perfect 7-for-7 at the free throw line. He nearly recorded a double-double, finishing with nine rebounds, while also adding two assists and two steals.

Sophomore point guard Gavin Harvey contributed 16 points and four assists while freshman guard Avian Webb provided a spark off the bench with 16 points.

The Cavaliers also received double-double performances from sophomore guard Joey Robinson and sophomore forward Tavian Cruse. Robinson finished with 11 points and 11 rebounds, and Cruse tallied 11 points and 10 boards.

PJ Newbill led Southeast with 26 points.

Johnson County returns to action on Wednesday, January 7, when they host North Central Missouri College. Tip is scheduled for 7 p.m.
